Bala Iyer Mentor, Robotics Coach Bala Iyer was born in India and came to the United States to pursue his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. He and his wife Deepa Iyer have lived in AZ for over 20 years now. Dr. Iyer is a manager at Intel Corporation. He is passionate about engineering and enjoys being part of the Maker community building and programming robots. His other interests include history and economics.

Bill Badger Mentor, Robotics Bill Badger has been in the high tech field for over 29 years. The first 15 years were spent marketing and selling computers and accessories to Consumers, Enterprise and Government. Immediately before embarking on a 14+ year career in Telecom, Bill designed and started the catalog group for Unisys to market and sell computer products to the Federal Government. In 1997, Bill Joined Motorola to manage and evangelize VME boards through distributors to federal government contractors in North America. Later, Bill became the Military consultant for Avnet and eventually managed and ran the M2M National telecom business for the Nokia 10 module with a Nokia/Avnet partnership. In his recent company (FW- a Novatel Wireless Company), Bill has designed, managed, trained, and promoted electronic ordering portals for procurement and management of handset and cellular data devices. With his deep knowledge of complex procurement systems, combined with industry best practices, Bill has successfully managed the creation of the current FW Device Management System. Bill has gone on to sell the DMS framework and application to Carriers such as T-mobile and Sprint as well as major industry corporations. Bill’s passion includes relationship management, Software Systems, and Robotics. Recently Bill coached and mentored the Si Se Puede Community Team which placed 8th in State FLL competition. He recently retired from Intel Corp. where he worked 27 years in various roles in Assembly/Test/Technology Development and ended his career in Corporate Planning and Logistics. His inspiration for working with these kids is to pay it forward for all of the opportunities he was given. For this he was awarded the Intel 2015 International Hero of the year and the Chandler Gilbert Community College Teal & Silver Community Partner award. Congratulations to Mr. Greg Lewis, for being selected as Intel's "2015 International Hero of the Year".
